Professor Kerryann Walsh conducts research in the interdisciplinary field of child maltreatment prevention, including online safety. Kerryann is an investigator on the eSafety Online Safety Grants project, Adapting Common Sense Media’s Digital Citizenship resources for impactful eSafety education in Australian early education and primary school settings. Through her work with the Centre, Kerryann aims to to identify what works to prevent violence against children and to promote the use of evidence-based policies, programs, and practices.

Kerryann’s extensive research experience is highlighted by her use of systematic reviewing and scoping study techniques to develop frameworks for industry including: the Best Practice Framework for Online Safety Education (completed in 2021 for eSafety), the Principles for Child Safe Organisations (completed in 2017 for the Royal Commission into Institutional Responses to Child Sexual Abuse), and the National Interdisciplinary Education Framework for Professionals Working in the Early Years (completed in 2016 for the Australian Government Department of Education and Training).
