Yixi’s PhD project looks into young Australian children‘s algorithmic literacy. They are attempting to assess their algorithmic awareness and knowledge by tracking their daily algorithmic practices on video streaming platforms, and to further observe whether daily interventions could contribute to their algorithmic literacy.

Yixi hopes their PhD research will support young children better understand and adjust their daily algorithmic experiences to avoid the negative effects of algorithmic manipulation, and to equip them with skills to judge as they navigate digital technologies.
