Dr Cary Bazalgette worked at the British Film Institute from 1979 to 2007, after teaching English and filmmaking in London secondary schools. She has written and edited several classroom resources for media education and has published and spoken on this topic across the UK and around the world. As Head of BFI Education from 1999-2006 she led the development of new approaches to education about moving-image media for the 3-14 age group. In 2018 she completed a PhD on two-year-olds’ encounters with these media; her book How Toddlers Learn the Secret Language of Movies was published in 2022.
