Ren completed their Juris Doctor at the University of Melbourne, where they focused on data, intellectual property, artificial intelligence, and privacy. Their doctoral research examined mechanisms to facilitate the meaningful participation of young children in the development of privacy and data policies and legislation, with the aim of realising children’s rights in these domains. Ren’s work will contribute to the growing field of children’s digital rights and participatory design in policy-making.

First digital memory

One of my earliest digital memories is being terrified sitting next to my cousin whilst they played Detective Barbie on the computer. That soundtrack was anxiety-inducing and I was so scared of the “mysterious shadow guy”. Regardless, I was immediately obsessed with video games and they have been a constant throughout my life.
