Dr Suzanne Srdarov teaches in media and digital cultures, with a particular interest in media cultures and their intersections with gender.

Her current research focus is on Australian digital childhoods, which has meant many hours watching the popular children’s television series, Bluey, for its depictions of modern Australian childhood – or puppyhood – and digital technology use.

She is also working on several projects that aim to explore children’s understanding of generative AI, and the place of generative AI more broadly in their lives and the Australian media landscape.

First digital memory

Playing handheld electronic Game and Watch games brought home by my dad from an overseas trip – Donkey Kong, the octopus game, and a Mickey and Donald game. My parents still have these games tucked away in a cupboard, and they still work!
