Saima Beg is the Business Support Officer for Curtin University, where she supports the Curtin research team to achieve our vision of safe and productive digital technology use among young children. Saima brings to the Centre diverse work experience as a research student, lecturer, university course coordinator, school teacher, administrator and accounts, as well seven years’ education experience in the fields of media, events, arts. Her vision for the Centre’s research is to help the community understand the impacts of digital usage on young children and hope that these findings make a long-term contribution to our society.

Saima was a lecturer and coordinator for the Bachelor of Mass Media course at University of Mumbai, and has published a course book for mass media students. She is also a qualified secondary school teacher and published illustrator. Saima provided illustration for a children’s book to be published by WAKA publications (The University of the South Pacific) and she is currently working on her own children’s book about an Indian child’s experience of the Sydney Opera House.

Earliest digital memory
Eagerly rushing home from school to watch a half-hour show called Malgudi Days based on the short stories collection by writer R K Narayan. This early exposure led to the shaping of my career in literature and cinema.
