Sian is a research assistant under the School of Arts and Humanities at Edith Cowan University. She is a media, games, and gender scholar interested in topics including perceptions of reality and meaning-making; why people enjoy certain media and what impact these games have on attitudes and behaviours; toxicity in online communities; and the alt-right, manosphere, and incels.

I was obsessed with my atomic purple GameBoy Color and Pokemon Gold. I carried a little black backpack with me everywhere so I could play anytime, and printed out guides and rumours so I could explore while I played.
