Dr Sarah Matthews’ project explores the intersections between play, computational thinking, and design in open ended technologies with young children. Sarah’s role is to translate multi-disciplinary theories and insights into technology design opportunities. Through her work in the Centre, Sarah hopes to create new tangible technologies that provide an environment that fosters children‘s curiosity, creativity and learning.
Sarah’s previous research achievements include: formulating a set of empirically grounded design principles for the development of creative technologies to be used in classrooms; developing novel methods to involve teachers insights in the analysis of children’s interactions with technologies; and establishing an international research domain in the design of technologies as creative materials for children.
