The parent-child communication implications of infant feeding apps

About the project

This project investigates the impact upon parent-child communication of infant feeding apps. It problematises the inclusion of a screen as a novel component within early processes of infant feeding.

It explores the motivations and concerns that support parents’ use of infant feeding apps and the reasons why some parents might choose not to use them or might discontinue their use. In connecting a parent to data, or to a network of friends/family/other parents, the app might reassure the parent but might, at the same time, hinder realisation of the full potential of parent-child communication in the process of infant feeding.

Project aims:

  • Eplore the motivations and concerns that support parents’ use of infant feeding apps and the reasons why some parents might choose not to use them or might discontinue their use
