Self regulation profiles and digital childhoods

About the project

This project will examine the distinct self-regulation profiles that can be identified within the ACODA cohort. It will also examine how these self-regulation profiles are associated with children’s digital activities.

This data-driven approach, which acknowledges the interrelations between cognitive, emotional and behavioural components of self-regulation, offers unique insights into young children’s individual differences in self-regulation. To our knowledge, this will be the first study to then map these self-regulation profiles to children’s digital activity to examine their associations. This person-centred approach considers the interactions between these constructs, overcoming assumptions of linear or dose-response relationships.
