Patterns of interaction with digital technologies among children in migrant and non-migrant Australian families: a comparative study
About the project
This project aims to examine patterns of interaction with digital technologies among Australian children in migrant and non-migrant families.
Despite recognising the sociocultural influence on the extent to which children engage in digital technology, little is documented on the usage of digital technology and the influencing factors in Australian migrant children, although they are more likely to exhibit distinct patterns.
Understanding the socio-cultural influences on a minor or vulnerable population, such as the migrant population, often leads to inclusion when designing targeted interventions such as educational practices and policies to support children’s learning in the digital era. This study is therefore important considering the ever-increasing interest in and actual engagement with digital technologies by children.
