Digitech Policy Project: Co-designing ECEC Centres’ digital policy with leaders, educators, children and parents
About the project
The project aims to inform the development and implementation of digital technology policies that promote a harmonious, educational and beneficial relationship between children, educators and parents, and digital technologies within their early learning context.
Project aims
The initial aim is to enable the implementation of a staff and parent informed evidence based digital technology policy in a WA organisation. The team are working with the educators and parents across the three centres to evaluate the short- and medium-term impact of the digital technology policies on digital practices in the centre/s.
In stage two, the subsequent aim is to create a robust and validated digitech policy template and guiding principles that is transferable to other early learning centres nationally. The guiding principles and digitech policy template will be examined by a selected group of experts and advisors in a staged way, informed by Delphi methods.
Outcomes
The initial project works intensively with one WA based organisation to establish a digitech policy for three of their early learning centres. This involves educators and parents providing input into the policy content, framed by literature informed guiding principles. This project involves a participatory design to ensure the literature and early learning centre practice informs the digitech policy content.
Stage two is vital to validate the data collected to develop the digitech policy template created in stage one. Drawing on broader expertise, the Delphi method utilised in this stage will allow for a rigorous analysis of the initial project qualitative findings.
